I've been promoting X (Twitter old) with friends these days and realized that quite a few people want to make money on X but don't know where to start. Actually, it's not very complicated if you understand the process.
First, you need to know that X has an attractive revenue sharing program — 97% for the first $50,000, then 80%. Compared to other platforms offering only 55%, X is clearly trying to attract creators. The good thing is that the market is still quite open, so building a channel on X is much easier than on other platforms. I've tried many platforms and haven't found any as easy as this.
To monetize on X, you need three things: register for Blue (Blue Check), have at least 5 million impressions, and 500 followers. The hardest part is this — if you choose to boost views/followers with services, be careful because X is sweeping accounts, but I still recommend building from zero with quality content for long-term earning.
Once you meet the requirements, create a Stripe account to receive payments. The process is a bit cumbersome — you need to fill in personal info, verify identity with an ID card, and select a bank account for transfers. Small tip: when filling in your name, put the first name first, last name last, without accents (e.g., Nguyen Van A becomes A Nguyen Van). After completing, download the Stripe Express app to monitor revenue.
Regarding content, you should choose a specific niche — something you understand or are working with. Write threads instead of single tweets, tell concise but engaging stories. Hashtags are also important because X's algorithm uses them to distribute content. Interact regularly with followers and find ways to attract followers from KOLs in the same field.
Besides sharing ads, you can make money on X in other ways. Buy courses from others, implement them, then become their distribution agent — tweet about results and earn commissions. Or create your own courses, write ebooks, record tutorial videos. Pricing your first product between $8-20 is reasonable. You can also create a paid newsletter on Substack, drawing readers from X to there.
Once you have a certain follower base, brands will approach you for product promotion. Or you can offer consulting in your area of expertise.
A note: to receive ad revenue, you must reach a minimum of $10. If not, the money will roll over to the next month. If your income is lower than expected, there are many reasons — low ad costs, viewers haven't verified their identity, content isn't suitable for ads, or posts with high views but few comments. The number of verified accounts commenting also affects the number of ads displayed on your page.
In summary, making money on X is entirely real and feasible. The key is to persistently create quality content, understand your niche, and interact properly. There’s no quick way, but if you do it right, the results will follow.
