Everyone is asking which is stronger, GPT or Claude.
Microsoft is tired of answering and has integrated both.
Recently, Microsoft combined OpenAI's GPT and Anthropic's Claude into the same workflow within Microsoft 365 Copilot, and the results have surpassed all existing AI research tools on the market.
This is a question of who is the real boss—Microsoft holds both cards.
They have invested over $13 billion in OpenAI; at the same time, through the Azure cloud platform, they provide access to Claude's API, and part of Anthropic's revenue flows back to Microsoft.
Two AI companies that constantly compare and compete with each other, but the money all flows to the same place.
But Microsoft's true advantage isn't money, but is the entry point.
Microsoft isn't an AI company; it's a distribution company. Over 300 million active users worldwide on Office 365, Windows systems, and Teams working daily—these are its moat.
No matter how powerful an AI model is, it still needs an entry point to reach you, and Microsoft has long held that entry point.
SoftBank lent another $4 billion to OpenAI this week, widely interpreted as paving the way for an IPO in 2026. But no matter how high OpenAI's valuation is, it's Microsoft 365 that helps you use GPT in your daily life.
This is the oldest rule in the tech world: platform kills application layers.
Back then, Apple turned all independent developers into icons on the App Store.
Today, Microsoft is testing the same logic: turning GPT and Claude into unnamed little buttons on the Office toolbar.
If you're still debating whether GPT or Claude is better, that's the wrong question.
In the future, which AI you'll use may not be your choice; Microsoft might have pre-installed it for you.
Ironically, OpenAI holds the highest global AI valuation, and Anthropic promotes safe AI to the world.
Then Microsoft puts both of them into the same table, saying: "Help me with both."
Who do you think will be the ultimate winner in this AI arms race?🤔
