Anyway, I saw something interesting: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman declared a salary of $76,000 last year. Yes, $76,000. A bit more than what he earned in 2022 (73,000), but still nothing extraordinary. The strange thing is that Sam Altman's net worth is estimated at at least $2 billion, yet his salary is practically at the minimum. He said he ties it directly to the standard Medicare, so I don't know, it's a conscious choice. What intrigues me is that he always says he doesn't own shares of OpenAI, but Bloomberg reported that the company has considered giving them to him. Anyway, these figures come from IRS filings that American nonprofits are required to submit every year. It's a bit surreal to see Altman's net worth so disproportionate compared to what he officially earns. Does this seem strange to you too?
