Bitcoin has changed a lot over the past few years, and Brian Harrington thinks investors need to change with it. In his conversation with Altcoin Daily, he explains that Bitcoin isn’t just a long-term speculative play anymore

With institutions now heavily involved and Bitcoin trading near six figures, the focus is shifting from simply “holding through the volatility” to actually earning income from Bitcoin-related assets

Instead of waiting for price swings, Harrington believes investors can now build portfolios that generate yield while still staying connected to Bitcoin’s growth.

Balancing Growth and Income

To make things simple, Harrington divides Bitcoin investing into two groups: growth and income

Growth is the classic approach, owning Bitcoin directly or buying high-volatility stocks that move quickly when Bitcoin pumps. Income is a newer angle, where investors use Bitcoin-linked assets to earn dividends or regular payouts

The idea is to benefit from Bitcoin without being fully exposed to its biggest price swings. Harrington says smart investors will start blending the two depending on where the market seems to be heading.

The Three Bitcoin Stocks to Watch in 2026

Harrington points to three names that stand out for different reasons. First is STRC, a preferred stock tied to MicroStrategy. It trades in a tight range around $99 to $101 and pays a yield of more than 10 percent. He describes it as a “Bitcoin savings account” because it delivers steady income with almost no price volatility.

Next is BTCI, a Bitcoin income ETF that sells covered calls. This strategy brings a high yield, around 27% especially during sideways or slightly bearish markets. It still follows Bitcoin, but the main appeal is the consistent income rather than pure price appreciation.

And then there’s MSTR, the high-volatility option. Harrington calls it a “leveraged Bitcoin position” because MicroStrategy’s heavy Bitcoin exposure makes the stock move faster than Bitcoin itself. It’s the pick for anyone who wants aggressive upside and doesn’t mind equally aggressive downside.

Finding Your Spot on the Bitcoin Yield Curve

Harrington uses what he calls the “Bitcoin yield curve” to explain how these choices fit together. STRC sits on the low-risk, steady-income end. BTCI sits in the middle, offering both yield and moderate volatility

MSTR is on the high-risk, high-reward end. His own portfolio is split between STRC and BTCI, and he adjusts the mix depending on whether he feels Bitcoin is gearing up for a bullish move or settling into a slowdown.

The New Era of Bitcoin Income and Growth

Harrington also talks about pairing Bitcoin with real estate to create a balanced financial foundation

Real estate brings predictable cash flow, while Bitcoin captures long-term upside. Together, he says, they form a reliable “barbell strategy” for building wealth

His message is simple: Bitcoin investing is evolving. It’s no longer just about holding for the next cycle, it’s about creating income, smoothing out volatility, and building a portfolio that grows in multiple ways.
