PANews reported on June 9 that, according to CNBC, the biometric project World (formerly Worldcoin), co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, will launch operations in London, England on June 12, and plans to roll it out to several other major cities in the UK in the coming months, including Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Belfast and Glasgow. The project aims to use its Orb device to verify human identities and prevent fraudulent misuse of AI systems such as deepfakes.
