🚨BREAKING: 🇺🇸 OCC SAYS BANKS CAN ENGAGE IN CRYPTO-ASSET CUSTODY, STABLECOIN ACTIVITIES, AND INDEPENDENT NODE VERIFICATION NETWORKS!

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has just released Interpretive Letter 1183 confirming that national banks and federal savings associations are permitted to engage in crypto-asset custody, certain stablecoin activities, and participation in independent node verification networks like distributed ledgers.

The letter, published on March 7, 2025, also rescinds the previous requirement for OCC-supervised institutions to receive supervisory nonobjection, provided they can demonstrate adequate controls are in place.

This move signals a significant step toward mainstream adoption of cryptocurrency activities in the U.S. banking sector.
