Cloud Security AI Company Cohere Helm Raises $7 Million in Seed Funding… Betting on "Agent-Based" Automation as the Key to Victory
A startup developing “agent-based” artificial intelligence for cloud cybersecurity, Coppershield, has successfully secured $7 million (approximately 10.3B Korean won) in seed funding and officially launched. Against the backdrop of increasingly complex enterprise cloud environments, the company aims to leverage AI to reduce the manual workload of security teams, attracting investor attention.
This round was led by TLV Partners, with participation from Today Ventures, Icon, and SaaS Ventures Israel. Angel investors include Kfir Tishbi, Or Hilch, Guy Zipori, and Ephraim Yarmak.
Cloud Security Operations Automation Strategy
Coppershield believes that existing security AI focuses on anomaly detection or vulnerability patching, but cloud environments present more complex attack surfaces. The company explains that the interwoven permissions of multiple services, virtual machines, and hundreds of users make traditional cybersecurity approaches difficult to handle.
The company specifically points out that, although automation technology is widely adopted in the cloud industry, actual security operations still rely heavily on manual procedures. Therefore, Coppershield focuses on enhancing the “autonomy,” “transparency,” and execution capability of security in large enterprise environments.
Co-founder and CEO Simon Toltz stated, “Engineering teams have been leveraging AI for years, but the security field remains in the manual operation stage. Coppershield is a platform that brings true artificial intelligence into cloud security, aiming to achieve the effect of instantly adding the equivalent of 20 experienced senior engineers to the team.”
Founding Team and Core Technology
Coppershield was founded by Simon Toltz, Eyal Zilberman, and Roman Rabunsky. The founding team has accumulated experience handling cloud infrastructure and security products at companies like Unity Software, McAfee, and RSA Security. The company plans to build on this experience to develop practical, operational AI solutions for cloud security.
Its core technology is a real-time decision engine called “Context Lake.” This system deploys AI agents designed to act as an extension of security teams. The AI agents continuously analyze infrastructure, investigate risk factors, and can even perform actual remediation work in the same manner as security personnel using tools.
According to Coppershield, a Fortune 500 client used the platform to compress 6 million raw security detection results into hundreds of verified risk reports that can be acted upon. The key is that it not only issues alerts but organizes them into formats that business teams can immediately act on.
Platform Composition and Market Competition
The platform includes dedicated agents responsible for network analysis, system behavior checks, attacker simulation, and automatic recovery. These agents can directly inspect running processes and container images, map cloud network structures, and deploy rules and policies to mitigate threats. The company states that this process can be carried out without impacting services.
In the cloud security market, automation combined with AI is rapidly intensifying competition. However, since enterprise clients truly need “actionable security operations,” not just simple detection, the extent to which Coppershield’s approach can improve on-site efficiency will be a key factor in its future success or failure.
