Been looking at what good things to invest in right now, and two names keep popping up in my radar - Broadcom and IBM. Both seem like solid plays if you're thinking longer term and not sweating the near-term market noise.

Let me break down Broadcom first. The company's basically printing money with its custom AI chips. Last year their AI accelerator sales jumped 65% to hit $20 billion, which is wild. That's now a third of their total revenue. What's interesting is they're doing this while competing against Nvidia, but their chips actually process AI inference tasks more efficiently at scale. That's a real competitive advantage. The whole business grew 24% in revenue and 40% in earnings. Looking ahead, analysts are calling for 52% revenue growth and 51% earnings growth next year. For a stock trading at 32 times forward earnings, those numbers are pretty incredible if they actually deliver.

Then there's IBM. Most people sleep on this one because it had a rough decade, but the turnaround story is legit. Their CEO shifted the entire strategy toward hybrid cloud and AI instead of trying to compete head-on with Amazon on public cloud. They acquired Red Hat back in 2019 and built out this open-source approach that lets companies keep data flowing between private and public clouds. That flexibility matters for the big enterprises that aren't ready to go all-in on public cloud. Revenue grew 8% last year with earnings up 12%. The projections for this year show more modest growth - 5% revenue, 7% earnings - but at 21 times forward earnings, there's still upside here.

So if you're looking for good things to invest in right now with a 10k position, these feel like the kind of plays that reward patience. Not flashy, but solid. The macro headwinds everyone talks about don't really matter if you're holding for years. Broadcom's got the AI tailwind, IBM's got the hybrid cloud adoption curve. Both should keep grinding higher regardless of what the market does in the short term. Worth doing your own research obviously, but these are good things to invest in right now if you believe in those thesis.
