Just found out oranges are actually safe for dogs? Been giving my pup little slices as treats and apparently that's totally fine lol. They've got tons of vitamin C and fiber which is good for their digestion, plus the water content keeps them hydrated on hot days. The catch is you can't go overboard—like 1 to 3 slices max per day, and it should only be like 10% of their daily diet. Also gotta peel it and remove seeds cause those can have some nasty stuff in them.
Someone asked me if puppies can have oranges too and honestly I wasn't sure, but turns out they can once they're eating solid food. You just gotta introduce it slow and in tiny amounts since their stomachs are more sensitive. Definitely wouldn't give it to a puppy still nursing though. And if your dog has diabetes? Skip the oranges because of the sugar content.
Pretty cool that there's a healthy fruit option besides the usual treats. Just remember it's a treat, not a meal replacement—most dog food already has all the nutrients they need anyway. Anyone else's dog actually like eating fruit or is mine just weird? 😂
