Latest developments in the US-Iran conflict: Trump threatens to bomb Iran's infrastructure if negotiations fail; some US officials believe the war will enter a second phase.
Mars Finance News reports that on April 6, the latest developments in the conflict between the United States and Iran are as follows:
United States: Trump appears to have pushed back the deadline for Iran’s ultimatum to 8:00 PM Eastern Time on April 7 (8:00 AM Beijing time on Wednesday). On April 5, Trump posted on social media hinting that he would bomb Iran’s power plants and bridges on April 7. U.S. media report that more than 1,000 U.S. service members have been evacuated from Bahrain. U.S. media: The rescued American pilot has been sent to Kuwait. Trump: He believes an agreement with Iran can be reached before April 6. A joint news conference will be held with the U.S. military on April 6 afternoon. Some U.S. officials believe the U.S.-Iran war will enter a second phase, and that Iran’s power plants and bridges will be included as “lawful military strike targets.” A source says the CIA carried out a “deception operation” before conducting a bold rescue operation in Iran. Trump said that if no agreement is reached, he would bomb Iran’s entire country. There is currently no need to dispatch ground forces, but he does not rule out doing so.
Iran: Iran’s foreign minister spoke by phone with Pakistan’s foreign minister to exchange views on the situation in the region. Iran said it would respond in kind to attacks targeting its infrastructure. Iranian troops said they carried out drone strikes against military targets of Israel and the United States stationed in Kuwait. Iran said it struck oil and petrochemical and energy facilities in multiple Gulf countries, warning of further strikes on U.S. interests. Iran said it used cruise missiles to attack Israeli ships near the Jebel Ali port in the UAE. Iranian media: The U.S. military rescue operation resulted in 5 deaths and 8 injuries in Iran. Several U.S. service members died during the rescue operation. An Iranian official proposed conditions for opening the Strait of Hormuz: first compensate for Iran’s war losses with past ship taxes.
Israel: Israel said it killed the commercial head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards oil headquarters. A source: Israel and the United States have finalized a comprehensive list of strategic targets. The chief of staff of the Israeli Army vowed to intensify attacks on Hezbollah, and removing Hezbollah’s armed forces is the primary war objective. Israeli media: Israel believes the likelihood of reaching an agreement with Iran is very low and is preparing for a potential large-scale strike on Iran’s energy infrastructure.
Strait of Hormuz: Iran’s parliament is reviewing a management plan for the Strait of Hormuz. Tankers carrying Iraqi crude oil pass through the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. media: Iran’s speaker of parliament appears to have vowed to cut off navigation through the Strait of Mandeb. Oman and Iran held a deputy minister-level meeting to discuss issues related to ensuring passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s supreme leader: It is necessary to continue using the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz as a “strategic lever.” After obtaining permission from Iran, within 24 hours, 15 ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz.
