Road closures in CDMX during Friday: complete schedule of blockades and rides
If you plan to travel around Mexico City this Friday, you should be aware of road closures affecting different areas. The Secretariat of Citizen Security has published its schedule of mobilizations, warning about closures that will cause significant congestion in various boroughs throughout the day. From early morning until late at night, CDMX will experience major disruptions in traffic flow.
Early morning and morning: transportation disruptions and downtown area
Friday will start with impacts early on. At 7:00 AM, there will be a traffic halt at Chabacano Station, affecting Lines 2, 8, and 9 of the Collective Transportation System Metro, located on Calzada San Antonio Abad, in the Obrera neighborhood of Cuauhtémoc borough. This is one of the most important stations for city transportation, so delays are expected on alternative routes.
At 11:00 AM, two activities will occur simultaneously: one at the Zócalo Capitalino, specifically at the Plaza de la Constitución in the Historic Center of Cuauhtémoc, and another at Periférico Sur No. 4121, in the Fuentes del Pedregal neighborhood, in Tlalpan borough. Both closures will happen at the same time, likely impacting several circulation areas in the city.
Afternoon: gatherings at government offices and diplomatic representations
In the afternoon, more road closures will take place in CDMX. At 1:00 PM, there will be disruptions at the Mexico City Criminal Courts, located at Dr. Lavista No. 114, in the Doctores neighborhood, Cuauhtémoc borough. Later, at 3:00 PM, there will be a closure at the Government Building at Plaza de la Constitución No. 2, in the Historic Center, also in Cuauhtémoc.
At 4:00 PM, closures will shift to another key area: the New U.S. Embassy located at the intersection of Calzada Legaría and Avenida Casa de la Moneda, in the Irrigación neighborhood, Miguel Hidalgo borough. This location mainly affects traffic in the northern part of CDMX.
Night: vehicle rides in eastern and southern boroughs
As the afternoon progresses into the evening, closures will turn into vehicle rides. At 5:00 PM, a caravan will start at the Plazuela de la Solidaridad, at the intersection of Popocatépetl and Nayaritas streets, in the Pedregal de Santa Úrsula neighborhood, Coyoacán borough.
Later, during the last hours of the day, vehicle rides will be held in multiple eastern boroughs of CDMX. In Gustavo A. Madero, at 8:30 PM, a gathering is scheduled at Puerta Aragón Shopping Center (Constitución de la República No. 221, Pradera 1st Section). In Cuauhtémoc borough, two rides will take place: the first at 8:00 PM at the Fountain of the Naiads, located in Alameda Central (Avenida Hidalgo, downtown), and the second at 8:40 PM at Parque Revolución (Clavelinas and Juan Sarabia, Nueva Santa María).
Finally, in Venustiano Carranza, there will be two nighttime events: at 8:00 PM at Prepa 7 (Ezequiel A. Chávez, Calzada de la Viga No. 54, Merced Balbuena) and at 9:00 PM at the Park of the Illustrious Journalists (Avenida Fray Servando Teresa de Mier and Cucurpe, El Parque neighborhood).
Recommendations for traveling in CDMX
Given these scheduled closures, it is advisable to check alternative routes in advance, allow extra time for travel, and, if possible, use mobility platforms or public transportation during times with no scheduled activities. The Secretariat of Citizen Security continues to publish these schedules so residents can plan their movements in the capital.
