The future direction of Ethereum is evolving towards a more solid infrastructure model. The core idea is straightforward—this platform cannot always rely on developers' continuous maintenance to keep it running; it must have the capability to solidify the protocol at the right time, achieving truly trustless or minimally trustless operation.

The specific technical roadmap includes several key breakthroughs: first is the implementation of quantum-resistant security, which involves long-term cryptographic security considerations; second is the completion of scalability architecture—solutions like ZK-EVM and PeerDAS are already in progress; coupled with the optimization of the state model to support stable operation for decades; and additionally, the full realization of account abstraction.

The underlying logic behind these improvements is consistent: to transform Ethereum from a platform that "requires ongoing governance and maintenance" into a self-operating infrastructure. This has a profound impact on the trust foundation of the entire Web3 ecosystem—application layers can build long-term projects with greater confidence, without worrying about the uncertainty of the underlying protocol.
