#以太坊大户持仓变化 Will zero-knowledge proofs change Ethereum's fate?🤯

Hsiao-Wei Wang, Co-Executive Director of the Ethereum Foundation, recently made a thought-provoking statement: Zero-knowledge cryptography has evolved from a niche technology to a core commitment of the Ethereum protocol. The technical breakthroughs over the past two years have already paved the way. Currently, Layer 2 solutions are still focused on scaling and execution efficiency, but zkEVM solutions at the protocol layer have long been at the center of the technical roadmap.

🔥 What if this really happens?

Imagine: transaction verification inherently incorporates zero-knowledge properties, protecting privacy while reducing verification costs by 99%. Security is no longer reliant on GPU clusters but defined by mathematical proofs that establish consensus rules. Censorship resistance and neutrality are directly embedded into cryptography, eliminating the need for storytelling.

🌐 What is the current situation?

The Layer 2 ecosystem has locked in over $42 billion, but transactions actually utilizing zero-knowledge technology account for less than 30%. Wang revealed that once zkEVM goes live, Ethereum can achieve a qualitative leap in processing capacity without compromising decentralization. An informal roadmap within the developer community suggests that the first zkEVM upgrade tests are likely to start in 2025.

💎 The logic behind this

Wang emphasized a principle: scalability breakthroughs must never come at the expense of core values. Risk resistance and security are the bottom line. This invisible upgrade essentially signifies Ethereum redefining its role — evolving from a global settlement layer to… we’ll have to wait for the official roadmap to be announced to know for sure. But one thing is certain: the technological competition in the crypto world has entered a new stage.

If this wave of zk truly materializes, Ethereum will take off immediately. Now we're just waiting to see the tests in 2025.

zkEVM is definitely on Ethereum now, and those Layer 2 tokens should be worried.

Reduce verification costs by 99%? I've heard this trick too many times. The key is whether gas wars will still exist and if there's still arbitrage space in the mempool... If everything truly becomes zero-knowledge, what will happen to the survival space of sandwich attacks?

Oh my god, cutting 99% of the costs directly—if that's really the case, how many people would get liquidated, haha

Hey, wait a minute. Less than 30% of 42 billion is using zero-knowledge? That number sounds a bit uncertain.

It's the same old story, 99% cost reduction? Wake up, everyone. Even mathematical proofs need to be verified.

Reducing zkEVM verification costs by 99% sounds great, but the fact that zk transactions only account for 30% indicates that the market still hasn't fully embraced this system... How can we bridge the gap between verification efficiency and actual adoption rate?

This round of zk really depends on 2025, but only 30% of the 42 billion locked in zk. These numbers are a bit disappointing.
