Betterment users recently encountered phishing scams—large numbers of users received fake notifications claiming that depositing BTC and ETH within 3 hours would yield triple returns, with a single transaction limit of $10,000. Betterment officially issued a statement confirming that this was an unauthorized scam activity initiated by a third-party system and has requested users to delete the relevant information immediately.

This incident once again exposes the social engineering risks in the crypto space. Scammers often impersonate well-known platforms, using "limited-time high returns" as psychological bait to prompt users to make hasty and incorrect decisions. Especially during market volatility, the impatient and profit-driven mindset is most easily exploited.

Industry security experts remind: official notifications are usually delivered through in-app messages or emails via official channels, not third-party methods; any investment opportunity promising quick doubling should be approached with caution; before transferring funds, always verify independently through the official website or official customer service. Protecting your wallet private keys and account credentials is always the first line of defense.
