According to Nikkei News, the Bank of Japan is considering raising the policy interest rate by 25 basis points at the monetary policy meeting on December 18–19, from 0.5% to 0.75%. This plan has become the current main option. If implemented, it will be the first rate hike since January 2025 and will push the policy rate to the highest level since 1995.
