Trump Criticizes Fed Rate Cut as Insufficient, Kevin Faces Extreme Interview

According to sources from HaShiChain, U.S. President Donald Trump criticized the Federal Reserve on Wednesday for its small rate cut and will meet with former Fed Governor Kevin Wash to interview him. Trump stated he did not request Powell's successor to signal a rate cut but emphasized that rates should be significantly lowered. He indicated that a decision might be announced in the next two weeks. Previously, the Fed announced a third consecutive 25 basis point rate cut, which Trump called a "pathetic" adjustment. He further criticized Powell as "rigid" and "stubborn."
The selection of the new Fed Chair is nearing completion, with Trump considering several candidates. He has been quite clear about whom he wants. Kevin Hasset, Director of the National Economic Council, is considered a leading candidate for the position, and Trump has hinted at this outcome multiple times. However, it is well known that he often surprises with personnel decisions, and any speculation before the official nomination is not definitive. Other finalists include current Fed Board Member Christopher Waller, Michelle Bowman, and Rick Reider from BlackRock. Bessent recommended four of the five candidates to Trump.
