#美联储重启降息步伐 I’ve seen too many traders like this.

A friend I know started with $20,000, and after three months her account was down to $1,100. I asked her how she lost it, and she said that every time she made around 9% profit, she wanted to wait a bit longer—"maybe it’ll go up to 15%." But what happened? As soon as there was a pullback, not only did she lose the profit, but she ended up dipping into her principal.

The worst part was her mindset when facing a floating loss—"I’ll wait until I break even before closing." I’ve heard this countless times. But the market won’t wait for you, and holding onto losing positions only makes the hole bigger.

What destroys traders in this industry isn’t technical indicators you can’t understand, but the greed and wishful thinking in human nature. When prices go up, you want more; when they fall, you can’t bear to cut your losses. Unrealized profits aren’t locked in, and unrealized losses are held onto stubbornly—your principal just slowly evaporates.

Later, I advised her to restructure her trading strategy:

Set your take-profit and stop-loss levels before opening each position, and stick to them without hesitation;
Take profits as soon as you have them—don’t expect to always catch the very top;
Strictly control your position size, and don’t let emotions drive your decisions.

Three months later, her account was back up to $5,000, and after a few more months, it rose to $10,000. She told me she finally understood what it means that "surviving is more important than anything."

Crypto isn’t a place where you get rich by luck—it’s a battlefield where you survive by discipline. The people who truly make money are those who know when to take profits and how to control risk. Chasing pumps and panic selling will only turn you into liquidity, not a winner.

The market will always be there, but once your principal is gone, it’s really gone.

To be honest, greed is a disease that cannot be cured. It's always the same rhetoric every time.

Oh man, from $20,000 down to $1,100—how much pain can one person take? “I’ll leave when I break even”—I’ve heard that a thousand times, but what’s the result? The principal evaporates, and dreams are shattered. Setting take-profit and stop-loss points sounds easy, but how many people really do it? Surviving is truly more important than anything else; that’s just how real the crypto world is. Greed knows no bounds, like a snake trying to swallow an elephant. I feel exhausted for that friend.

To put it bluntly, it's just greed—this disease can be fatal in the crypto world. --- Losing from 20,000 down to 1,100, just hearing that hurts... But it's true, setting a stop-loss is really the hardest lesson. --- "Wait until I break even before leaving"—so many people die on this line... I've had this problem too. --- Discipline > technique, that's so true, but barely anyone can actually do it. --- Surviving > getting rich quick, how many losses does it take to really understand this? --- "Take profits when you can" sounds simple, but try sticking to it for two years? I never managed to. --- I totally get not cashing in on floating gains... Every time I want to take a bit more, but end up not getting even the last bite. --- So in the end, the real winners aren't the most technically skilled, but the most patient. --- Once your principal is gone, it's really gone—this should be the motto posted on every wall in the crypto world.

Quitting while you're ahead is easier said than done. I've seen so many people fail at this psychological hurdle.

Greed is truly the biggest killer in this industry. I've seen too many people get liquidated instantly just because of a single moment of impulse.

Oh, this is a classic case of greed—turning $20,000 into just $1,100 and still daring to hold on. To put it bluntly, taking profits and cutting losses are all about testing your humanity. Surviving is the real priority. Stop always trying to grab the last bite.
