I only just saw the whole Elizabeth thing today, and honestly, I feel pretty upset about it. It’s not anger—more like an indescribable heaviness.
In the past, whenever someone got caught faking charity on Twitter, they basically had to “socially die” and leave the platform. The warning signs were all there, clear as day. Who would risk hundreds of lives for some online clout? I really don’t believe anyone would play with fire like that unless they were actually crazy.
But after watching that obviously edited video several times, to be honest, I still want to believe she was genuine. Most likely, she really did donate, but for the sake of appearances—or something else—she exaggerated the numbers.
That’s the most frustrating paradox: doing something good, but feeling the need to put a filter of vanity over it. Maybe at first, she just wanted to look “more powerful,” but now, not only does nobody buy it, even the genuine goodwill is buried under suspicion.
This world doesn’t lack perfect numbers—it lacks unfiltered truth. Even if it’s less, don’t lie. Seriously, that’s life-saving money. I hope people stop chasing clout with things like this!
