Multiple energy facilities in Saudi Arabia were attacked, and the country’s daily crude oil output decreased by about 600k barrels.

On April 9, according to disclosures from sources at Saudi Arabia’s state news agency and the Ministry of Energy, multiple energy infrastructure sites in Saudi Arabia have recently been attacked, causing a substantial impact on the crude oil production and export system. The Kuraies and Manifa major oil field production facilities were hit in succession, each resulting in a reduction of about 300k barrels per day; in addition, a key pump station on an east-west oil pipeline was damaged, causing the daily oil throughput to fall by about 700k barrels. In the refining segment, multiple major facilities—including the Jubail Satorp refinery, the Ras Tanura refinery, the Yanbu Samref refinery, and the Riyadh refinery—were all affected, with the ability to export refined products to the global market taking a hit. In addition, a fire broke out at the Jueimah processing facility, disrupting exports of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG). Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy confirmed that the attacks have resulted in the death of an industrial security personnel member from an energy company, and that the operation of some energy facilities has been forced to pause.
