Jack Dorsey’s “Bitcoin Faucet Day” announcement aims to get local merchants to embrace Bitcoin (BTC). Users can support the local shops they love while also earning Bitcoin rewards for themselves. Square and Cash App are currently teaming up to roll out a rewards program called “Bitcoin Payments Bounty,” which will run until April 27. The goal of this program is to expand Bitcoin’s use cases. As long as you can drive a Square merchant that hasn’t yet accepted Bitcoin to complete its “first” transaction, you’ll earn a Bitcoin reward worth $25.

How to participate in “Bitcoin Faucet Day” to earn rewards?

The participation process is extremely simple. Just follow the steps below to earn rewards up to 10 times (for a total of $250). This rewards event is limited to the United States.

Get your tools ready: First, you need to download and register Cash App. This is your main platform for making payments, viewing Bitcoin maps, and receiving rewards. Note: using Cash App’s features requires passing the platform’s KYC review, and it is currently open only to users in the United States.

Lock in your target: Use Cash App’s Bitcoin map to find local merchants that use the Square system but haven’t enabled Bitcoin payments yet.

Do the “promotion” and “first payment”: Introduce the benefits of Bitcoin payments to the merchant (see the promotional guide below). After they turn on the feature, users will make that store’s first Bitcoin transaction using Cash App. You can choose to pay directly in BTC, or settle in USD through the Lightning network.

Claim the bonus: Once the system confirms that the user is the first customer to complete a Bitcoin payment for that store, it will send $25 worth of Bitcoin to the user’s Cash App wallet.

Flash bonus: During “Bitcoin Faucet Day” from April 6 to April 10, if you buy at least $10 worth of Bitcoin on Cash App, you can earn an additional $5 in rewards, while also participating in sharing a $1 million total prize pool.

How Cash App teaches users to promote Bitcoin

According to an announcement on X, when promoting to shop owners who haven’t touched Bitcoin yet, you can use the following methods as an Elevator Pitch:

Zero transaction fees: This is the biggest incentive. All Square merchants will have credit card processing fees waived for accepting Bitcoin payments through the end of 2026, allowing you to save on operating costs directly.

Get new customers: Many Bitcoin holders will actively look for stores that support crypto payments. Enabling this feature helps merchants appear on Cash App’s “Bitcoin map,” attracting more new faces.

No fear of price volatility: Merchants don’t need to worry about Bitcoin’s price falling. The Square system supports instant settlement conversions, so merchants can choose to receive the equivalent amount in fiat currency. It’s just as simple and secure as ordinary payments.
