The Wuhan Municipal Public Security Bureau’s Traffic Management Department issued a statement saying that traffic management and transportation departments have quickly handled the situation together with the Robo-Run company; all passengers inside the vehicles safely got off, with no one injured. The detailed reasons are still under further investigation. Industry insiders believe this stoppage was very likely caused by the vehicles proactively triggering a safety self-check mechanism after encountering an unexpected situation; it is an active strategy for system-level safety assurance and is not uncommon in the international autonomous driving industry. In December 2025, Google Waymo’s driverless cars had previously been brought to a standstill in place after traffic signal lights lost power, triggering a “minimum risk strategy.” As of the time of publication, Robo-Run has not yet made a public response.
