Trump issues final warning to Iran: "If you don't take negotiations seriously, there's no turning back," as U.S. accelerates deployment to the Gulf.

President Trump posted a stern warning to Iran’s negotiators on Truth Social Thursday morning: “They better get serious quickly—before it’s too late—once that moment comes, there’s no turning back, and it won’t look good!”

Trump described Iran’s negotiators as “strange,” but said Iran is “asking us” for a deal.

In his post, Trump called Iran’s negotiators “very different” and “strange,” yet claimed Iran is “begging” the U.S. to reach an end to the war. He also said Iran has been “militarily destroyed, with no chance to retaliate,” sarcastically dismissing Iranian officials’ public statements that they are only “reviewing the U.S. proposal”: “Wrong!!!”

U.S. and Iran remain at odds

This warning comes amid ongoing tensions. The U.S. claims peace negotiations are underway, with Trump previously announcing a five-day pause on strikes against Iranian energy facilities, stating both sides are communicating through Pakistan and proposing 15 peace points.

However, Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian said that exchanging messages through intermediaries “does not mean negotiations with the U.S.,” and Iran is currently only “reviewing the proposals.” Iran also launched multiple missile attacks against Israel on Tuesday, further escalating the situation.

U.S. accelerates troop deployment, possibly seizing Kharg Island or reopening the Hormuz Strait

Reports indicate the U.S. is preparing to send thousands of additional troops to the Gulf region for rapid deployment in case of further military action. Analysts told CNBC that if negotiations break down, the U.S. might attempt to seize Kharg Island’s oil port or force the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Military experts described three possible attack scenarios but lean toward limited-time actions rather than sustained ground warfare.

Gulf countries issue joint statement, ready for “self-defense”

Another notable development is that Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and several Gulf nations issued a joint statement Thursday condemning Iran’s “criminal” attacks on energy infrastructure and indicating they are prepared to take “self-defense” measures—suggesting the Middle East situation could shift from a U.S.-Iran bilateral conflict to a broader regional confrontation.

The conflict has lasted nearly four weeks, with the Strait of Hormuz still blocked, and global energy markets remain highly tense.
