Anthropic Launches Computer Control + Mobile Remote Assignment Features: Claude Can Now Directly Operate Your Mac

You’re on the subway, typing a few words on your phone, and Claude on your desktop starts helping you organize tax files, create pull requests, or monitor 3D printing progress… Today (24th), Anthropic officially launches these new features.

The core of these features: Computer Use and Dispatch. Together, they form an AI agent loop of “phone commands, computer executes.”

Claude clicks mouse and types keyboard himself

Computer Use enables Claude to directly control macOS: not via API or plugins, but by genuinely picking up the mouse and keyboard, clicking, navigating, opening apps, editing files, browsing web pages.

However, Anthropic’s design logic has a priority order: Claude will first use precise integrated tools like Slack connectors and Google Calendar integrations. Only if these tools are unavailable or unusable will it resort to directly controlling the screen.

In terms of permissions, Claude explicitly requests user approval before accessing each new app; some apps are blocked or cannot be controlled by Claude by default; it also includes built-in protections against prompt injection to prevent malicious websites from visually deceiving Claude into executing dangerous actions.

Anthropic admits: “Compared to Claude’s coding abilities or text interactions, Computer Use is still in early stages.” Currently, the stability and speed of Claude’s control interface still require user testing.

Remote control via phone: Use case scenarios for Dispatch

Dispatch is a different feature. It allows you to send commands from iOS or Android phones, which are executed by Claude on your desktop in a sandbox environment: all within a continuous multi-device conversation, no need to re-explain context.

Anthropic provides specific scenarios: assigning morning report summaries during your commute, remotely managing tax organization while out, having Claude create pull requests, or monitoring your home 3D printer during business trips. The core idea: You’re not at your computer, but your computer is working for you.

Max users first, Pro to follow “within a few days”

Currently, both features are in research preview and only support macOS; Windows support is not yet available. User tiers are rolled out in three waves:

– Claude Max: Available immediately
– Claude Pro: Coming “within a few days”
– Free users: Expected to be available after 2026

Prerequisite: the desktop app must remain running, and operations must be performed in a macOS environment.
