PlayStation 5 price increases by 20% globally Sony: Due to global economic pressures

Sony (NYSE: SONY) announced a price increase for the Playstation 5, with an increase of up to 20%. In the United States, the PS5 (disc version) rises from $549.99 to $649.99, the PS5 digital version increases from $499.99 to $599.99, the PS5 Pro goes from $749.99 to $899.99, and the PS Portal increases from $199.99 to $249.99, effective April 2.

Sony stated that due to pressure from the global economic environment, it has decided to raise the prices of the PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal remote play device globally. “We are fully aware that price changes can impact the community, but after careful consideration, we believe this is a necessary step to ensure we can continue to provide innovative and high-quality gaming experiences for players around the world.”

In Japan, the PS5 (disc version) increases to 97,980 yen, the PS5 digital version rises to 89,980 yen, the PS5 Pro goes up to 137,980 yen, and the PS Portal increases to 39,980 yen.
