The situation in Iran remains tense, and the global oil transportation “choke point” of the Strait of Hormuz has yet to resume navigation, leading to persistently high international oil prices, which directly drive several airlines to raise fuel surcharges. Cathay Pacific Airways (00293) announced it will adjust passenger fuel surcharges again starting April 1 after a previous increase on March 18. Hong Kong Airlines was the first to raise its fuel surcharge on March 12, and then raised it again from March 18. Greater Bay Airlines also announced a second increase in fuel surcharges starting April 1. The successive increases in fuel surcharges by several airlines mean that the cost of purchasing tickets for passengers traveling abroad will rise further.
