(MENAFN- IANS) Chennai, Nov 22 (IANS) Director Vineeth Varaprasad’s highly anticipated action entertainer starring actors Harish Kalyan and Preity Mukhundhan has now been titled “Dashamakan,” its creators announced on Saturday.

During the film’s title promo launch event, director Vineeth Varaprasad revealed that actor Harish Kalyan played the role of a rapper in the film.

“Although this is my second film, this is the first time I’ve had a platform to express myself. I wasn’t given a platform the last time I made a film. That was when I decided that instead of wondering why I wasn’t given a platform, I would create one myself for many others,” Vineeth Varaprasad said.

He added, “I wanted to uplift others and enjoy that experience. In this film, I have cast 137 junior artists. We have identified eight new rappers through this project.”

Stating that the film will focus on the life of a boy who is a rapper, the director said, “Dashamakan will be a music-oriented film. It’s not a musical because there are many other elements in this film.”

“Dashamakan is a place where I grew up. It’s a very familiar place to me. Many people celebrate Chennai. I am someone who grew up here, and I wanted to showcase this city to the world as I see it. Chennai nurtures talent. Many talented and progressive thinkers have come from here. I believe North Madras is the Brazil of Chennai. I think I’ve shown that in this film,” he added.

The film, with cinematography by Karthik Ashokan and music by Britto Michael, is currently being edited by Madhan.
