Today, the SMM battery-grade lithium carbonate index price dropped sharply compared to the previous trading day. From the market trend, the main contract opened at 170,000 yuan/ton in the morning and steadily declined throughout the session, briefly hitting the limit-down price of 150,800 yuan/ton. It then slightly rebounded to around 154,000 yuan/ton before weakening again after midday, ultimately closing at the limit-down level. On that day, the main contract’s open interest decreased by approximately 39,000 lots compared to the previous trading day.

In terms of actual transactions, upstream lithium salt producers showed continued weak willingness to sell, with a clear reluctance to part with stock. After the price dropped rapidly in the morning, downstream material manufacturers’ purchasing interest significantly increased, with most companies adopting laddered order strategies to buy on dips. Overall, market inquiries were active, and trading activity noticeably improved. (SMM)
