CCTV "3·15" Evening Gala Exposes Rental E-Bike "Wild Ride" Hellobike Apologizes: Launched Special Investigation Immediately
On March 15th, illegally modified high-speed electric bicycles were exposed on CCTV’s “3.15” evening show. According to CCTV reports, some electric bicycles sold in live broadcast rooms have parameters far exceeding national standards, posing a risk of speeding and becoming a hidden danger to road traffic safety.

It is worth noting that Hello, which continues to expand in the travel sector, has become one of the representative companies involved in this chaos. During the program, Manager Mi, responsible for provincial-level electric scooter rentals at Hello, stated that although some models they rent out do not meet the new national standards and regulations are becoming stricter, they still have ways to help franchise customers with license plate registration. They promised that every vehicle could be officially registered with a proper electric bicycle license plate, even when the vehicles have not yet been produced, the license plates are already in place.
Subsequently, Hello issued an apology statement. In the statement, Hello said that they attach great importance to the issues reported by CCTV’s “3.15” evening show and have launched a special investigation immediately. The Hello electric scooter rental platform has never authorized any offline stores to directly use the Hello brand for related rental services. The company reserves the right to further pursue legal responsibility for the actions of relevant stores.
Hello stated that the company continuously reminds merchants through the merchant platform, conducts spot checks at stores, and requires each merchant to ensure that rented vehicles comply with current national laws, regulations, and standards, and that vehicles are not illegally modified. They also regularly require merchants to self-inspect and rectify their vehicles in operation.
“Content from CCTV’s ‘3.15’ evening show indicates that there are gaps in our review mechanisms or management. We will take this incident as a warning, conduct deep reflection, and resolutely rectify the issues, responding to users’ trust with concrete actions. We thank the media and society for their supervision, and we will promptly disclose subsequent developments,” Hello said.
