Coin World News reports that the Ethereum Foundation has released a 38-page new mission statement document outlining its development philosophy, priorities, and long-term role in the Ethereum ecosystem. The document highlights that Ethereum's core objective is to advance "self-sovereignty," ensuring users maintain ultimate control over their identity, assets, actions, and agency. To achieve this goal, Ethereum's development must continue to uphold four core attributes: censorship resistance, open source and freedom, privacy, and security (collectively referred to as CROPS). The Ethereum Foundation emphasizes its role as the "original steward" of the Ethereum project, but not the owner or manager of the network. Going forward, it will focus on advancing long-term protocol research, public safety infrastructure, and developer ecosystem coordination, stating that it will measure long-term success by "progressively reducing its own influence."
