Google Translate Android beta testing new features: adjust pronunciation speed and tone, rolling out 3x2 desktop widget
IT House, March 3 — Tech media Android Authority published a blog yesterday (March 2), reporting that after launching the language learning mode, the Android version of Google Translate is preparing a series of interface and interaction improvements.
By dissecting the APK file of version 10.7.52.876301306.5 of Google Translate, the media found that Google is restructuring the “Live Translate” feature interface to enhance the smoothness of cross-language conversations.
In terms of interaction logic, the old version’s interface had mode options at the bottom and conversation history displayed at the top.
The new beta introduces a splash screen that guides users to set the mode before starting a conversation. The conversation history display has been moved to the bottom of the screen, a change that better aligns with the user’s line of sight when holding the phone with one hand, making it easier to view translations.
Besides interface adjustments, Google Translate is also exploring ways to improve audio assistance features. To address users’ uncertainty about pronunciation, the app plans to add audio output control options. Users will be able to adjust the playback pitch of the translation results or even slow down the speech. However, code indicates that these advanced voice features may not support all languages, with the exact coverage still to be confirmed by official sources.
Regarding desktop widgets and quick actions, Google Translate is developing a 3x2 desktop widget that allows users to create shortcuts for specific language pairs directly.
