China Economic Net | NPCSC Representative Tang Yue: Engineer Dividend Overlays AI Era, China's Medical Equipment Industry Reaches Time to "Exert Force"
2026 National Two Sessions
“It’s time for us Chinese to make a move!” Tang Yue, deputy to the National People’s Congress, Chairman and CEO of CHTC Technology, said in an interview with the Economic Daily and China Economic Net. China has established the world’s most complete industrial system, the most comprehensive supply chain system, and the largest production capacity. The current core task is how to transform these “three mosts” into new momentum for high-quality development and promote industrial transformation and upgrading.
Deputy Tang Yue pointed out that over the past few decades, technological innovation in the medical equipment field has been mainly led by European and American countries. But now, Chinese engineers and entrepreneurs should set new ideals—not only to ensure a happy life for the Chinese people but also to have a global perspective and contribute to the advancement of medical technology for all humanity.
He revealed that CHTC Technology has set strategic goals for the next 5 to 10 years: to become a leading enterprise in the global medical equipment industry. “This is not only a subjective aspiration for corporate development but also an objective necessity to participate in international competition,” emphasized Deputy Tang Yue. Facing the inevitable trend of going global and competition from international peers, only by establishing a global leadership goal can companies continue to move forward in the new landscape.
Regarding the gap with international advanced levels, Deputy Tang Yue frankly stated that China’s medical equipment industry is currently in a complex stage where “leading, running parallel, and lagging” coexist. “For areas where we are leading, we must continue to work hard; for areas where we are running parallel, we need to increase efforts; for areas where we are lagging, we should humbly learn and strive to catch up.”
Talking about confidence in innovation, Tang Yue listed China’s two major unique advantages: first, the large number of university graduates each year, forming a huge team of engineers—“an innovation resource that no other country can match.” Second, in the era of artificial intelligence, China and the U.S. are on equal footing and leading global development—“integrating AI technology into medical innovation has a very promising future.”
