Witkoff Sees Signs Of 'Inflection Point' In Talks On Peace In Ukraine
(MENAFN- UkrinForm) He made the remarks in an interview with CNBC, Ukrinform reports.
“That negotiation is a purposeful negotiation. […] The Ukrainians themselves say that we have made more progress since the initial meetings in Geneva than we did in the last four years. […] We’re going to remain positive on that. That’s a war that should end,” Witkoff said.
He also expressed hope that the sides could move closer to a peace settlement as early as this year.
“I am a logical person. […] I think that President Trump is generally successful in getting these things settled. In this particular circumstance, and he said it, it’s taking longer than he thought. But we’re beginning, we’re seeing signs that both sides are weary and tired. And it, and, hopefully, that’s the beginning inflection point,” the envoy said.

He added that a similar situation had occurred in the Middle East.
“There was an inflection point where we just – Jared [Kushner] and I – both sensed that they were done with the war. And let’s hope that we’re at that place today or soon,” Witkoff said.
As reported earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that trilateral talks between delegations from Ukraine, the United States, and Russia, which had been scheduled for this week, were postponed at the request of the American side due to the situation in Iran.
