Federal prosecutors have formally opposed Sam Bankman-Fried's motion for a new trial, dismissing his arguments as groundless. They point out that the witnesses he cited were already known to his defense team before trial, when they could have been called to testify. Prosecutors also characterized his claims about political persecution by the Biden administration as "incoherent" and "purely fabricated." Bankman-Fried remains incarcerated serving a 25-year sentence, and the court has not yet ruled on his request for a new trial.
