(MENAFN) Several explosions were reported Saturday in the Iranian capital, Tehran, according to reports from local media outlets.

Information circulating in reports indicated that loud blasts were heard across multiple parts of the city. Witnesses and local coverage suggested that the sounds echoed through different neighborhoods of the capital, raising concerns among residents.

Later developments indicated that the Israel Defense Forces had begun another round of attacks targeting locations in Tehran as well as in the city of Isfahan.

Additional explosions were subsequently reported in the eastern districts of Tehran, according to statements cited by reports from the country’s state broadcaster.

Earlier, Israeli military officials had announced that the Israeli Air Force deployed more than 80 fighter aircraft to conduct a new wave of strikes. These operations were said to target infrastructure linked to the Iranian government in Tehran and other areas across central Iran.

Regional tensions have sharply escalated since Feb. 28, when coordinated airstrikes by the United States and Israel struck targets in Iran. According to reports, the attacks resulted in the deaths of more than 1,000 people, including the country’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, over 150 schoolgirls, and several high-ranking military figures.

The developments have fueled broader instability across the region, with Tehran carrying out retaliatory operations against locations associated with American interests in multiple countries.
