【PayPal】Officially announces integration with Google’s Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), which will soon appear as a payment option in Google’s AI shopping mode and Gemini application. This collaboration allows merchants to directly showcase products and complete transactions within search and AI dialogue scenarios—simply put, embedding the purchasing process into users’ daily searches and AI interactions.
Even more interesting is that PayPal revealed a bigger ambition as early as September last year. They announced an upgrade to the P2P payment experience, planning to integrate cryptocurrencies into in-app payment flows, and launched personalized link transfer services. This means users will soon be able to directly conduct peer-to-peer transfers of crypto assets within the PayPal ecosystem—redefining the boundaries of payment methods.
From the perspective of traditional payment giants, these initiatives all point in the same direction: seizing new opportunities in AI shopping and crypto asset applications.
