A few days ago, the Sui network released the Seal white paper, and the blockchain-native "programmable privacy" is really about to be implemented. The document explains it quite clearly—the combination of threshold encryption, an independent key server network, and on-chain Move strategies allows data to achieve "encryption-first, fully programmable access permissions." In simple terms, developers write rules using smart contracts: who can view, when they can view, and automatic destruction once conditions are met. The entire process requires no trust in any third party. On-chain policies and auditability are key points.

As the most mature decentralized storage solution in the Sui ecosystem, Walrus has become the best "storage partner" for Seal. Walrus uses RedStuff erasure coding technology, which is quite interesting—only 4 to 5 times replication factor is needed to achieve ultra-high data availability, even if 2/3 of the nodes fail, data can still be recovered. Storage costs are much lower than traditional centralized solutions, and read speeds are comparable to CDN.

Even more interestingly, Walrus directly converts uploaded files into programmable Blob objects on Sui. When used with Seal, encrypted data stored in Walrus is controlled by Seal, turning static files into active on-chain assets. Features like automatic expiration, conditional paid subscriptions, and data monetization are supported. Especially in the wave of AI, this combination has a lot of imaginative potential.

Sounds great, but let's talk about it when this set of features is actually usable. Who will maintain the key servers for threshold encryption? Is the incentive mechanism properly designed? History has shown us that the story of decentralized storage often ends up falling into centralized traps.

Seal + Walrus this combination truly has potential; once programmable privacy is implemented, the possibilities are indeed vast.

This set of combination punches looks good, but can it really be implemented? Seems better to wait and see.

Once the Seal white paper is released, it feels like Sui's combination punch is indeed something special. Is programmable privacy really going to be implemented? I can't help but feel a bit overwhelmed. Walrus and Seal, this pair of partners, seem to be tailor-made for each other. RedStuff's erasure coding is powerful, maximizing data availability while reducing costs—this is what Web3 storage should look like. But on the other hand, this model of conditional paid subscriptions and data monetization seems to depend on the developer ecosystem catching up. The AI sector indeed has huge potential, but I'm worried it might just become another PPT concept. So fast? Sui is about to do something big again. Regarding on-chain asset liquidity, Seal's automatic destruction mechanism feels like the real innovation. I love that it doesn't require trusting a third party. It's really just a matter of waiting for someone to create a killer app using this technology. For now, it still looks very promising. The audit aspect seems well handled, at least ensuring transparency.

Wow, the combo of Walrus and Seal is really awesome. I need to think more about turning data into on-chain assets.
