Trading is brutally hard—not because of market conditions, but because it strips away your illusions about yourself.

I used to think intelligence was the edge. Wrong.
Then I bet everything on sheer effort. Still lost.
Confidence? Self-belief? The market laughed.

None of it moves the needle.

The market doesn't grade you on IQ. It doesn't reward how desperately you want to win. Your intentions, your hustle, your unwavering belief—none of that registers.

Only one thing gets respect: discipline.

That's it. Not brilliance. Not conviction. Discipline.

That was too harsh, but it's the truth. When I stay up late watching the market, I think to myself, if I could make money just by obsession, I would have become wealthy long ago. Saving on Gas fees has even caused me anxiety, but without discipline, I just go all-in and lose everything.

Well said... I am the one who has been slapped the hardest by the market. IQ, effort, and faith are all useless; in the end, I realized it's just two words—discipline.

It's a harsh truth, but it really hits home. I am a living example myself, once believing that intelligence could beat the market, only to be proven wrong countless times. The word discipline sounds dull, but it is indeed the only thing that works.

That was a harsh statement, but it really hits home. IQ, effort, and faith—these things the market doesn't care about at all. In the end, I realized that discipline is the most valuable thing.

Honestly, the word discipline has been overused... but how many people actually practice it? I am the kind of person who only realizes this after being beaten down by the market. Intelligence, effort, and faith are all worthless; in the end, I was still defeated by my own greed.
