Shaping Cardano’s Future: CIP-1694 Puts Power in the Hands of ADA Holders

CryptoNewsFlash

In light of the eco growing around the Cardano blockchain, the team behind the revolutionary project focuses on governance. In the latest update, blockchain tech company EMURGO, one of the founding members of Cardano has opened a discussion around a proposal dubbed CIP-1694. The proposal brings on-chain governance to shape a sustainable future for Cardano and bring another significant upgrade to the network.

According to the announcement, CIP-1694 will start to form the governing bodies of the Cardano protocol including a Constitutional Committee and Delegated Representatives (dReps), voting policies, and other governance details related to on-chain governance including native tokens, new standards for on-chain improvements, and other proposed changes for the community.

Named after the birth year of Voltaire, this proposal marks the beginning of the Voltaire era. With CIP-1694, Cardano plans to transition into a fully decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), giving power back to ADA holders.

CIP-1694 aims to give every Cardano ADA holder a say in the future direction of Cardano and be able to show their preferences by voting on-chain.

This way, the Cardano community will be involved in the decisions that shape Cardano’s future.

This is a crucial phase for the eco and especially ADA holders. The proposal will shape the future of Cardano and distinguish ADA holders from the rest of its peer projects.

In a blog post by EMURGO, the governance mechanism will come in stages, the team wrote;

The governance mechanism will be introduced in stages and then gradually become more complex. Not all of the decisions regarding Cardano will immediately be given to the community, and the process will take time to fully finish.

In the near future, ADA holders will be able to put forward governance actions that will be ratified by a Constitutional Committee, a group of delegation representatives (DReps), and stake pool operators (SPOs). Cardano’s function will therefore be in the hands of ADA holders, giving the Cardano community a greater say in the future function of the blockchain and the decisions that shape the project.

Once CIP-1694 is confirmed and running, Cardano will be in the hands of the community. This means the Constitution Committee, Dreps, SPOs, and ADA holders. Collectively, all of them will be able to make proposals, have them be presented for a vote, and if successful be implemented.

The Cardano network will become the first decentralized blockchain protocol controlled and run by its community which will be significant.

This is a major milestone for the Cardano project which has been at the forefront of cutting-edge technology. Through countless upgrades, the project has continued to build on its revolutionary blockchain with its latest report showcasing its achievements.

Despite its technological upward trajectory, its native token ADA continues to struggle. Ranked 7th based on its market cap, the token has only added 2 percent in the last 7 days. Trading for 0.3811, this is nearly 90 percent below its all-time high of $3.0992. Analysts remain optimistic that with the return of the bull market and continued development efforts, the token will soar to reach previous heights and possibly establish new all-time highs.
