PANews 1月28日消息，据彭博社报道，稳定币发行商Tether Holdings SA已成为全球黄金市场最大参与者之一，其持有约140吨黄金，价值约230亿美元，据信是银行与国家以外最大的已知实物黄金持有者。Tether首席执行官Paolo Ardoino透露，公司正以每周1至2吨的速度持续购买黄金，目标是在一个前瑞士核掩体中建立长期、稳定的实物黄金储备。他强调，此举类似于扮演“全球最大的黄金中央银行之一”的角色，并预测地缘政治对手将推出与黄金挂钩的美元替代货币，而Tether已为此准备了其黄金代币XAUT。
Tether在2025年购买了超70吨黄金，规模超过了除波兰央行外的几乎所有单一央行，也超过了许多大型黄金ETF。除直接持有外，Tether还聘请了汇丰银行前资深黄金交易员，计划建立黄金交易平台，并与摩根大通等银行竞争。公司亦在收购多家加拿大中型黄金矿业特许权公司的股份。
此前消息，Tether在2025年第四季度增持约27吨黄金储备。
