美国司法部宣布涉案4000万美元加密庞氏骗局主谋被判处 8 年监禁

Gate News bot 消息，美国司法部宣布，宾夕法尼亚州哈里斯堡的德韦恩·戈尔登（Dwayne Golden）因参与一项价值4000万美元的加密货币庞氏骗局，被判处八年以上联邦监禁。

这位57岁的男子于2024年9月承认串谋实施电信欺诈和洗钱罪。

据检察官称，戈尔登及其同谋格雷戈里·阿格森（Gregory Aggesen）、马奎斯·德马克·埃格顿（Marquis Demacking Egerton，又名“马迪·埃格”）和威廉·怀特（William White）创建并运营了欺诈性投资平台。

这些平台包括EmpowerCoin、ECoinPlus和Jet-Coin，涉及2017年4月至8月。这些网站承诺通过海外加密货币交易向投资者提供固定利润。

美国检察官诺塞拉指出，这些公司仅以海外加密货币交易的高额回报承诺来吸引投资者，然而并未进行任何实际交易活动。被告将收到的投资者资金用于支付早期投资者，或将其挪作他用，这构成了庞氏骗局。

FBI助理局长拉亚指出，这些平台共筹集了超过4000万美元。这些骗局败露后，被告试图通过妨碍联邦调查来掩盖其罪行。

2017年7月至2022年3月期间，戈尔登、阿格森和怀特试图妨碍联邦贸易委员会（FTC）的调查和联邦大陪审团的调查。当局表示，他们销毁了关键证据，并向调查人员提供了虚假和误导性陈述。

值得注意的是，威廉·怀特此前因其所扮演的角色被判处30个月监禁。与此同时，阿格森和埃格顿已认罪，目前正在等待宣判。

作为判决的一部分，戈尔登还被勒令没收约246万美元的非法所得。法院将在稍后决定对受害者的赔偿金额。
