Một thẩm phán liên bang tại New York đã bác bỏ vụ kiện vi phạm bằng sáng chế mà các thực thể liên kết với Bancor đệ trình chống lại Uniswap. Trong phán quyết ngày 10/2, Thẩm phán John G. Koeltl cho rằng các bằng sáng chế được viện dẫn chỉ đề cập đến “ý tưởng trừu tượng” về việc tính toán tỷ giá trao đổi tiền điện tử, nên không đủ điều kiện bảo hộ theo luật sáng chế Hoa Kỳ.
Tòa án nhận định rằng việc xác định giá trong giao dịch là một hoạt động kinh tế cơ bản và việc triển khai trên blockchain hay hợp đồng thông minh không biến ý tưởng này thành sáng chế có thể cấp bằng. Ngoài ra, đơn kiện cũng không chứng minh được Uniswap đã trực tiếp sử dụng hằng số tỷ lệ dự trữ như mô tả trong bằng sáng chế, cũng như không đủ căn cứ để buộc tội vi phạm cố ý.
Vụ án bị bác bỏ “không có định kiến pháp lý”, nghĩa là Bancor có 21 ngày để nộp đơn kiện sửa đổi; nếu không, việc bác bỏ sẽ trở thành cuối cùng. Nhà sáng lập Uniswap Hayden Adams sau đó tuyên bố trên X: “Chúng ta đã thắng.”
