April, sagte der Präsident der Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Musalem, dass Energie-Schocks im Zusammenhang mit dem Krieg mit dem Iran definitiv die Gesamtinflation beeinflussen und möglicherweise auch den Druck auf die Kernpreise ausüben werden. Musalem sagte: „Ich erwarte, dass ein Anstieg der Warenpreise die Gesamtinflation eins-zu-eins beeinflussen wird, und es wird eine Phase hoher Gesamtinflation für eine gewisse Zeit geben. Auch die Kerninflation wird in gewissem Maße übertragen; ich werde die Übertragungsstärke sowie die Korrelation zwischen beiden genau beobachten.“ (Jin Shi)
