Sony’s move this time is pretty interesting—they directly launched the Startale USD stablecoin on their own Ethereum L2 network.

This isn’t just about issuing a token. Their approach is to integrate stable payments and reward mechanisms into games, apps, and content ecosystems. In simple terms, they want users to seamlessly use crypto payments while playing games or using apps.

Traditional giants are starting to take consumer-level Web3 seriously, and that’s a pretty strong signal. Sony already has a huge user base and content ecosystem. If they can refine the payment experience, this could really bring a breakthrough in real-world application. After all, what the industry lacks most now are scenarios where ordinary people can use crypto without even noticing.

As these major players enter the Ethereum L2 space, the possibilities are definitely expanding.

No, Sony just wants to lock gamers into its ecosystem. The payment experience is just a pretense.

Sony’s move is pretty impressive—they’ve integrated payments directly into their ecosystem, so regular users don’t even realize they’re using crypto. This is what real adoption looks like.

Sony's combo move here is really something. Finally, a major company is willing to truly implement payments in games. If this kind of seamless payment scenario can really be rolled out, that would be the turning point for Web3. Is the L2 story over? Feels like with Sony's move, we'll have to tell it all over again. In the end, it's about who can first get the user experience right, instead of just repeating the old token tricks. Will it work this time, or is it going to be another thing that looks good but ends up with very few real users?

Sony really played this hand perfectly—this is a textbook case for consumer-grade Web3. But to be honest, the key is still how they build up their user base going forward; otherwise, it’ll just be another big company hyping itself up.

Oh my, Sony is finally doing something right—this is the way to do it! But wait, can it really integrate seamlessly? Or is it just another thing with a poor user experience? This move on L2 is definitely exciting, but the key is whether they can retain users in the long run... Sony played this move well, but I'm just worried it might end up as another tool to exploit users. At last, a major company is taking this seriously, but I wonder if they'll mess it up again...
