Ethereum's Dencun upgrade has been a year apart, with average Gas fees dropping by 95%

On March 13, PANews reported that, according to Cointelegraph, the average Gas fee of ETH dropped by 95% in the year following the Dencun upgrade, which is one of the most significant network improvements for Ethereum. On March 13, 2024, the Dencun upgrade for Ethereum was launched. This upgrade combined the Cancun upgrade for the execution layer and the Deneb upgrade for the consensus layer, and introduced nine Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs). Its primary goal is to enhance the scalability of Ethereum and reduce the Transaction Cost of the second layer. According to data from YCharts, the average Gas fee for Ethereum has dropped from 72 gwei in 2024 to only 2.7 gwei on March 12, 2025.
