Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approves the establishment of Shenzhen National Internet Backbone Direct Connection Point

On March 30, 2026, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approved the establishment of the Shenzhen National Internet Backbone Direct Connection Point. The national-level Internet backbone direct connection point is a core node for achieving interconnection of the Internet backbone network, serving as an important communication hub for aggregating and smoothing traffic between networks. As of now, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has approved the establishment of 30 direct connection points, further optimizing China’s interconnection infrastructure layout, enhancing overall Internet communication performance and efficiency, and driving the digital transformation and upgrading of local traditional industries. Next, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will guide the Guangdong Provincial Communications Administration and basic telecommunications enterprises to ensure the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Shenzhen direct connection point, ensuring its successful completion and effective use, supporting high-quality regional digital economic development, and providing strong support for building a powerful network country and digital China.
