The cost of imported cotton is 1,722 to 1,889 yuan per ton lower than that of domestic cotton.

April 22nd, the customs duty-paid cost of medium-quality imported cotton within quota (1% tariff) is 15,521 yuan/ton, which is 1,889 yuan/ton lower than the price of domestic standard-grade cotton, a decrease of 231 yuan/ton compared to last week; the sliding scale tariff (5%~40%) imported cotton cost is 15,688 yuan/ton, which is 1,722 yuan/ton lower than domestic cotton prices, a decrease of 37 yuan/ton compared to last week. The drought in the United States is unlikely to ease in the short term, and foreign cotton prices have been rising for more than two months, with the overall increase exceeding that of domestic prices. The price gap between domestic and foreign cotton continues to narrow. (National Grain and Oil Information Center)
