ME News Report, April 6 (UTC+8), according to AXIOS, four sources familiar with the negotiations from the United States, Israel, and the region revealed that the U.S., Iran, and a group of regional mediators are discussing terms for a potential 45-day ceasefire agreement that could ultimately end the war. The sources said that the likelihood of reaching a partial agreement within the next 48 hours is low, but this final effort is the only chance to prevent the war from escalating sharply. The 10-day deadline set by President Trump for Iran was originally due to expire on Monday evening. However, Trump extended the deadline by 20 hours on Sunday and posted a new cutoff time on his social media platform “Truth Social”: Tuesday night at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. On Sunday, Trump told AXIOS that the U.S. is engaged in “intensive negotiations” with Iran and said that an agreement could be reached before his Tuesday deadline. (Source: PANews)
