Will Trump visit China in mid-May? Ministry of Foreign Affairs responds →
On March 26, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian hosted a regular press conference.
Foreign Ministry: China and the U.S. maintain communication regarding President Trump’s visit to China
In response to U.S. President Trump’s announcement of his visit to China in mid-May, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated at the regular press conference on March 26 that summit diplomacy plays an irreplaceable strategic guiding role in China-U.S. relations, and that both sides are maintaining communication regarding President Trump’s visit.
Foreign Ministry discusses Middle East situation: All parties should create conditions for meaningful and sincere peace talks
In response to questions about the conflict in Iran, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated at the regular press conference on March 26 that China has repeatedly emphasized that the prolongation of the conflict does not serve the interests of any party. Continuing the war will only bring more casualties and unnecessary losses, leading to further spillover of the situation. The urgent task is to actively promote peace and dialogue, seize the opportunity for peace, and push for the cessation of hostilities. We support all efforts that are conducive to cooling tensions. All parties should work in the same direction to create conditions for meaningful and sincere peace talks. China is willing to continue to play a constructive role in this regard.
Foreign Ministry: The U.S. and its allies should not introduce group confrontation and conflicts into the Asia-Pacific
In response to claims from the U.S. that American companies are seeking to build ammunition production lines in the Philippines, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated at the regular press conference on the 26th that China has consistently believed that military security cooperation between countries should not target third parties or harm the interests of third parties, and should not undermine regional peace and stability. The Asia-Pacific is the most important driving force and stabilizer for global development and prosperity. The U.S. and its allies should genuinely respect the common wishes of regional countries, do more to benefit peace and stability, and not introduce group confrontation and conflicts into the Asia-Pacific. If relevant countries willingly become a “powder keg” or “ammunition depot,” it will ultimately backfire on themselves. China will firmly defend its territorial sovereignty and security interests, and safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
