On the 25th, The Wall Street Journal reported that U.S. President Trump recently told his advisers that he hopes to “quickly” end the war with Iran, aiming to conclude hostilities “within the coming weeks.” The report cites informed sources stating, “As the conflict has lasted nearly a month, the president privately informed his advisers that he believes the war has entered its final stages, urging them to adhere to the 4 to 6 week timeline he publicly proposed when the conflict began.” The report mentions that Trump had told one adviser that the war was interfering with his ability to advance other priorities. Another individual who recently spoke with Trump indicated that he seems ready to move on to the next major challenge, but did not specify what that would be. The report stated, “The issue is that Trump has no easy options for ending the war, as peace negotiations are still in the early stages. In discussions with external political allies, his attention occasionally shifts to other topics, including the upcoming midterm elections, the decision to deploy immigration enforcement personnel to airports, and pushing Congress to tighten voter eligibility legislation.” (Xinhua News Agency)
