MTR | Man at Kowloon Tong Station suspected of opening the rear emergency exit and entering the tracks. It is reported that he has been located.
The MTR East Rail Line suspended service from Mong Kok East to Tai Wai due to a suspected intrusion onto the tracks. The MTR stated that preliminary information indicates that an East Rail Line train traveling from Kowloon Tong to Tai Wai had its emergency exit ramp in the rear driver’s cabin opened.
It is reported that a man involved was found in the tunnel and seriously injured from electrocution.
The police pointed out that around 4 PM, they received two reports from individuals at Tai Wai and Kowloon Tong stations, indicating that a man had entered the driver’s cabin of the East Rail train. The police and fire department are currently searching the scene. It is understood that the police have found the involved man in the tunnel, and he is seriously injured from electrocution.
Citybus strengthens Service on Route 79.
The MTR is providing free shuttle buses currently running between Kowloon Tong and Tai Wai stations. Passengers heading to Kowloon Tong station may consider taking the Kwun Tong Line, and passengers may also consider transferring to the Tuen Ma Line at Hung Hom Station or Tai Wai Station.
Citybus is enhancing the service on Route 79 to facilitate passengers traveling between Tai Wai, Sha Tin City Center, and Tai Po during the afternoon peak hours.
